Line Editing
A Line Edit takes the editor's focus to the sentence level. Extremely in depth, Line Editing acts to rectify errors in:
-
Spelling
-
Punctuation
-
Capitalisation
-
Syntax
-
Grammar
-
Word usage

This kind of edit is a combination of copyediting and micro developmental editing (dealing with smaller issues) it acts to:
-
Enhance readability and meaning
-
Improve comprehension and accuracy
-
Fix sentence structure
-
Provide alternative wording
The micro-developmental editing side of Line Editing flags issues with characterisation, language, pace, plot, setting, dialogue and point of view. Recommendations and flags are included in the manuscript as comments (using track changes).

All Line Edits are provided with a comprehensive and unique Style Sheet.
POPULAR!
Because these kinds of edits are so in depth and provide a rounded approach to a manuscript, it is by far the most popular service I offer, excluding Full Publishing Packages.

Developmental Editing
(Also known as a Substantive Edit or a Content Edit)
A Developmental Edit works with the manuscript as a whole. It focuses on the content, it helps to get the plot in line, and it makes suggestions for adding, removing, moving, or altering content. This kind of edit is considerably more work on both the editor’s and author’s parts but usually results in a much better end product. This type of edit looks at:
Analyses and provides guidance on:
-
The structure of your text
-
The sequence of your content
-
The style of writing used
-
Language
-
Pace
-
Target audience
-
Reduces bias (sexism, racism etc.)
-
The elements of writing
-
Plot
-
Setting
-
Characterisation
-
Dialogue
-
Point of view
A developmental edit is provided in the form of a report which may be 10 to 30 pages in length, it also makes notes on the manuscript itself, so that you can better see what needs to be removed or further developed.
Developmental edits are only recommended on manuscripts that require it, a line edit or structural edit is usually recommended as it can deal with issues on a micro level. If you think your manuscript might need a developmental edit, I will be able to assess the manuscript once I receive it and will let you know if this service is something that could benefit your work.

Developmental edits can be performed at any stage of the text, and the approach taken will be tailored to your manuscript.

This type of editing is performed on the PDF version of the manuscript after it has been converted to ebook or print format. Proofreading ensures there are no egregious errors, manages widow and orphan lines, and provides guidance on:
-
Formatting
-
Design
-
Layout
-
Typography

International payments are invoiced via PayPal. Payments can be made to the PayPal account via internal PayPal transactions, or an invoice sent externally which allows you to pay by credit/debit card.
Services are billed 50% up-front, after the Standard Agreement for Editorial Services (SAES) has been viewed and accepted by both the editor (me) and the client (you). This contract provides peace of mind and acts as the editorial brief. In some cases, a payment plan can be set up.
*Invoices are billed in AUD. As a result, there may be some fluctuation in the prices listed here for GBP and USD. I edit for clients worldwide, and international rates listed on the page are only a guide.
